Finding the ideal men's leather jacket can significantly enhance your style and provide a timeless layer for any outfit. To ensure that you select a jacket that fits perfectly, it's important to measure accurately. In this guide, we’ll walk you through the steps to measure your current jacket for the perfect fit. Don’t forget to check out our accompanying video for a visual demonstration!

Step 1: Lay the Jacket Flat

Start by laying a jacket that fits you well flat on a hard surface. Make sure to smooth out any wrinkles or folds to get precise measurements. This step is essential to achieve a true representation of how your new leather jacket will fit.

Step 2: Measure the Chest

To measure the chest, locate the widest part of the jacket, which is typically around the armpits. Measure straight across from one side to the other. Double this measurement to determine your chest size. If you prefer a more tailored fit, consider opting for a size that’s slightly smaller than your measurement.

Step 3: Measure the Shoulders

Next, measure the shoulder width. Start at the edge of one shoulder seam and measure straight across to the edge of the other shoulder seam. This measurement is critical for ensuring the jacket fits comfortably across your shoulders and allows for ease of movement.

Step 4: Measure the Sleeve Length

For the sleeve length, measure from the shoulder seam down to the end of the wrist. Make sure you have no wrinkles in the sleeve to ensure an accutate measurement.

Step 5: Measure the Length

Now, let’s measure the overall length of the jacket. Measure from the bottom of the neck seam down to the hem bottom. This measurement will help you determine how long the jacket will be when worn, ensuring it meets your style preferences.

Step 6: Measure the Waist (Optional)

We normally make the waist about 2" smaller than the chest.  If your leather jacket features a more fitted design, you may also want to measure the waist. Measure across the bottom hem of the jacket from one side to the other. This will provide insight into how fitted the jacket will be at the waist for a flattering silhouette.

Conclusion

Measuring for the perfect fit is crucial when purchasing a mens leather jacket. By following these simple steps, you can ensure that your new jacket is not only stylish but also comfortable. For a detailed visual guide, be sure to check out our video linked below!
